I received a bulk e-mail today from Jonathan Tang, CEO of Salesnet. This is the gist of the message:
Frustrated with Salesforce.com?
If you answered "yes", you are not alone!
38% of Salesforce.com customers
are planning to or would consider
moving to another solution.*44,902 companies left Salesforce
in the last four quarters.**We can help.
50% off
We indicated in a recent blog entry that Salesforce.com is vulnerable to attack. So on the one hand this attack doesn’t surprise me. On the other hand I am surprised by the forcefulness of the full frontal assault executed by Salesnet.
As we describe in the Art of Attack every strategy needs to be developed in context of a three move set. In other words the challengers opening move, the leaders response, then the challengers second move. At some point the strategy needs to have a decisive action that results in sustainable competitive advantage.
Many marketers fail to get beyond rationalizing their opening move let alone thinking things all the way through to a culminating decisive action. It will be interesting to see Salesnets follow-on moves. One of the more diabolical voices here at vSente thinks Larry Ellison may be behind Salesnet. Now that would be a hoot!
