To Jocelyne Attal, marketing’s goal is pure and simple: drive home
leads and shorten the sales cycle. She’d rather be in the field
than be:"someone who is pretending to do marketing in an office in
headquarters. I like to go and meet the people who are
really close to the customers." After all, it’s all about the customer.
Finding them and turning them into revenue—rather than waxing poetic
about the ethereal elements of branding—is how she views her
department’s purpose. We don’t have any other objective," she says. "You can create a beautiful advertising campaign but if it generates
nothing, the company will fail."
