I play GO regularly on the internet at IGS
an online GO server. As of this writing I have played more than 1700
games on IGS and I am still only an average player at best. GO is a
paradox in it’s simplicity to learn and difficulty to master. Which is
why so many get hooked on the game. I play GO because of the nature of
the conflict, the aesthetics of the game and the mental work out GO
provides strategists who daily must contend with opposing ideas.

A while back I literally stumbled across an obscure GO book (it was
blocking the aisle at Borders) written by Troy Anderson (with the
encouragement of Marketing Godfather Phillip Kotler) titled The Way of Go: 8 Ancient Strategy Secrets for Success in Business and Life.

Troy recently offered comments on why GO presents an interesting framework in which to analyze strategy… a framework that competitive salesmen will instinctively grasp:

In a sense, GO’S RULES are a strategy
typology. While it is not collectively exhaustive of all strategic
rules, it does cover a lot of ground for strategic planning and
attempts to be somewhat mutually exclusive. The interesting part of the
Way of Go’s typology, however, is that it does exhibit a symmetric
structure; poles counterbalance each other: Global vs Local, Owe vs Save, Slack vs Taut, Reverse vs Forward, Us vs Them, Lead vs Follow, Expand vs Focus.
