I sat through several painful breakout sessions at Dreamforce. Either they were blatant pitches for the speaker’s company or strayed way-off topic. All trade shows suffer from this – it’s not a salesforce.com issue. Problem is most shows do not pay for speakers which leads to either totally commercial pitches or poorly prepared and presented sessions. The best session by far was Matt Benetti and Cathy Bensink’s presentation on competitive pipeline analysis. Good practical stuff. But then I’m kind of partial to the topic.

I have a suggestion for next year – do a whole track on "How To Kick Your Competitor’s Ass Using salesforce.com". Trust me, if you want to start attracting more sales execs, CEO’s and marketing managers this is a topic that will get their attention.
