I’m a very casual fan of the America’s Cup – I barely know the bow from the stern, but I enjoy sailboats, and the competitive dynamics experienced in contending for the coveted cup. Currently the challenger races are being held in Valencia Spain, that lead up to the actual America’s Cup race later this summer. I’ve been following the races via the official 32nd America’s Cup web site I have to say that in my 13 some odd years of Internet related activities – this site is the best I have seen to date. It appears to me as if they’ve gotten everything right in the right amounts. Everything from a technology standpoint works the way it should, the creative is gorgeous, the copy writing timely and informative, the still photos of gallery quality, the archives and supporting content comprehensive and the user interface a delight to interact with. My gut tells me this may well be one of the few event related marketing opportunities that actually produces a positive ROI for the sponsors – but I have no stat’s to back that up. Whoever is producing the web site is doing a great job. Anybody know who’s doing it? I couldn’t find any production credits on the web site.
